The researchers from the German TFZ have just published a very comprehensive technical report describing long-term testing of tractors powered by locally produced rapeseed oil. The project has tested 20 tractors over a 10-year period, with a total of 60,000 operating hours on rapeseed oil. The conclusion is clear: engine power, fuel consumption and emissions differ just slightly from tractors powered by diesel. Emission tests have been carried out both in the test bench with stationary equipment and with mobile test equipment during operation in the field. The results show that the engines comply with recent emission standards and that exhaust after-treatment systems work. Under pt. 10, Stability and Reactivity, we have stated that the mentioned conditions concern rapeseed oil´s tendency to oxidize by contact with atmospheric air, is only relevant in terms of rapeseed oil longevity, as oxidation can impair the quality of the oil and storage stability.
Since rapeseed oil is very stable against oxidation compared to linseed oil (Flaxseed oil), we consider it unlikely that rags of rapeseed oil can Combust Spontaneously at normal ambient temperature, as it may occur with rags of linseed oil

GreenTrac is a multifunctional all terrain transport vehicle and light agricultural tractor with 4 x 4 electric hybrid drive. Yesterday we had a visit from a plant oil driver from the south of Germany, Hans-Jörg Pfau, who with his daughter is going to Volda in Norway - a trip of over 2000km each way. On 22nd July our PV system had 2 years anniversary since the commissioning. The aim of the system is to cover our own need for power. The 1st year it produced nearly 8.900kWh and 2nd year nearly 8.600 kWh, which is more than our consumption of approximately 8.000kWh.Read more
