The researchers from the German TFZ have just published a very comprehensive technical report describing long-term testing of tractors powered by locally produced rapeseed oil. The project has tested 20 tractors over a 10-year period, with a total of 60,000 operating hours on rapeseed oil. The conclusion is clear: engine power, fuel consumption and emissions differ just slightly from tractors powered by diesel. Emission tests have been carried out both in the test bench with stationary equipment and with mobile test equipment during operation in the field. The results show that the engines comply with recent emission standards and that exhaust after-treatment systems work. Rapeseed oil reduces the emission of greenhouse gases by 90% compared to fossil diesel.Read more
We have updated our Material Safety Data Sheet for coldpressed rapeseed oil.
Under pt. 10, Stability and Reactivity, we have stated that the mentioned conditions concern rapeseed oil´s tendency to oxidize by contact with atmospheric air, is only relevant in terms of rapeseed oil longevity, as oxidation can impair the quality of the oil and storage stability.
Since rapeseed oil is very stable against oxidation compared to linseed oil (Flaxseed oil), we consider it unlikely that rags of rapeseed oil can Combust Spontaneously at normal ambient temperature, as it may occur with rags of linseed oil
This week, January 19-28, there is an International Green Week Exhibition in Berlin. Here you can meet UFOP (Union for the promotion of oil and protein plants e. V.) in Hall 3.2, stand 114.Read more
I have just converted a Toyota 4Runner 3,0TD (1KZ-T) to run on WCO, with a single tank system, for a client in Norway. I made this video showing the conversion - focusing on the injector work.Read more
I was invited to speak at the GREEN MOBILITY conference, The Future of Transportation in Denmark and in the EU,
April 28-30th, 2017, at Nordic Folkecenter, about "Experiences with Pure Plant Oil (PPO): A Successful Story".
I appreciated the invitation, but I added a question mark to that title - has it really been a success story ?
GreenTrac is a multifunctional all terrain transport vehicle and light agricultural tractor with 4 x 4 electric hybrid drive. The onboard standard generator is driven by a small diesel engine converted to run on Pure Plant Oil (PPO). It has 8m² flexible PV panels on the roof, charging the battery pack.
The vehicle combine development and disaster preparedness for roadless areas.
Besides solving transport tasks, it can serve as power supply for mini grids.Read more
Our PV system has just turned 3 years since the start-up in July 2013. It has produced an average of 8.744kWh / year, and thus covers our entire power consumption of approximately 8,000 kWh / year.Read more
A seminar is held on September 14th in Brussels about Pure Plantoil´s possible important role in agriculture in a decentralized system with the co-production of Food, Feed and Fuel. The seminar is held in the German Rhineland-Palatinate representation in Brussels, and is in German and English.Read more
Yesterday we had a visit from a plant oil driver from the south of Germany, Hans-Jörg Pfau, who with his daughter is going to Volda in Norway - a trip of over 2000km each way. Hans-Jörg is architect and leisure farmer, and works with passive houses. He is very interested in renewable energy and sustainability, and is a member of EUROSOLAR.Read more
On 22nd July our PV system had 2 years anniversary since the commissioning. The aim of the system is to cover our own need for power. The 1st year it produced nearly 8.900kWh and 2nd year nearly 8.600 kWh, which is more than our consumption of approximately 8.000kWh.Read more
